TSG’s VP of Business Development Herman Shauger Inducted into West Orange’s Colgate Park Hall of Fame on 2019 Old Timer’s Day
October 1, 2019
On September 7, 2019, The Shauger Group’s (TSG’s) vice president of business development, Herman Shauger, was inducted into the Colgate Park Hall of Fame on West Orange’s annual Old Timer’s Day. A longstanding tradition in the West Orange community, each year’s Old Timer’s Day Hall of Fame induction recognizes a small group of individuals over the age of 50 who have made a difference in the West Orange community and who have served Colgate Park, in particular, through years of involvement with recreation and service activities.
This year’s induction ceremony was the 43rd annual induction of a Colgate Park Hall of Fame class. At this year’s event, eight other inductees were also honored: Jackie Cassidy, Pat Cassidy, Vinny Delorto, Gary Fittin, Mary Huber Miele, Elizabeth Huber Zaleski, Rich Strowe, and Buzzy Thatcher.
Herman Shauger is the fourth Shauger brother to be included in the Colgate Park Hall of Fame. In 2016, TSG’s executive vice president, Donald Shauger, was recognized for his years of service to West Orange and was part of West Orange’s 40th annual Old Timer’s Day Hall of Fame class. John Shauger and Tommy Shauger, who are Herman and Donald’s brothers, were also given the Hall of Fame honor.
Along with his siblings, Herman Shauger was raised in West Orange by a single mother. Herman was actively involved in West Orange athletics and activities from his youth on. Starting at age nine, Herman began participating in Recreation’s Little League Baseball Reserves at Colgate Park. He played Police Athletic League (PAL) baseball and PAL peewee football for two years, as well as played in a softball league in Colgate Park and other town fields.
At West Orange’s Edison Junior High School, Herman earned letters in wrestling in grades seven through nine. At West Orange’s Mountain High School, Herman received a varsity/JV letter in sophomore year in wrestling, as well as varsity letters in wrestling in both junior and senior years.
Herman, who has been working at TSG since 1998, is deeply involved in all facets of TSG’s condominium work, as well as in TSG’s bidding and estimating work. His work with the company covers many properties in West Orange, and encompasses many aspects of client relations, so he is very well-connected to the West Orange community.
“My brother was a wonderful selection for the Colgate Park Hall of Fame,” said Donald Shauger. “He’s a West Orange guy through and through. We were so fortunate to have grown up in such an amazing town, and I’m proud Herman received this well-deserved honor.”
