SUEZ and TSG Provide Meals to Essential Emergency Workers during COVID-19 Pandemic
March 31, 2020
In a time filled with chaos and uncertainty during the COVID-19 pandemic, SUEZ and The Shauger Group (TSG) are teaming up to give back to the emergency personnel putting their lives on the line. To show their gratitude toward emergency personnel working around the clock during this crisis, SUEZ and TSG have partnered to donate hundreds of meals to workers in police departments, fire departments, emergency services units, medical centers, hospitals, and offices of emergency management. The meals will be delivered on or by Tuesday, March 31, 2020.
SUEZ and TSG will donate a total of 475 meals, divided between the following places: Jersey City Medical Center, Christ Hospital in Jersey City, the Jersey City Emergency Services Unit (East Linden Avenue), the Jersey City Office of Emergency Management (Summit Avenue), the Jersey City Fire Department (Summit Avenue), the Jersey City Municipal Utilities Authority, the Kearny Fire Department, the Kearny Police Department, the City of Orange Township Police Department, and the City of Orange Township Fire Department.
“We owe a debt of gratitude to all of the emergency workers and other essential workers who are on the front lines during this pandemic,” said Donald Shauger, Executive Vice President of TSG. “They are sacrificing so much to keep us all safe, healthy, and well. We are facing an unprecedented set of circumstances, and we are thankful for their dedication to protecting us and keeping us safe.”
“We hope our small gesture of gratitude will show emergency workers how much their tireless efforts have meant to all of us during the COVID-19 pandemic,” added Lisa Shauger, President/CEO of TSG. “They have been putting their lives at risk to help us, protect us, and try to minimize the spread of the coronavirus. Our entire global community is relying heavily on emergency workers and other essential personnel, and we thank them all from the bottom of our hearts.”
“We are always ready and willing to partner with The Shauger Group on community initiatives,” said Xavier Castro, President of Environmental Services for SUEZ North America. “This gesture not only shows our appreciation for our first responders, but gives us an opportunity to support local businesses in different communities and we are proud to be a part of this.”
TSG will also donate an additional 250 meals to emergency workers in Newark, Bloomfield, Irvington, Roseland, and East Orange. SUEZ will also be providing meals for first responders across its northeast region.
In order to prevent cross-contamination, all 725 donated meals will be individually bagged, rather than provided as traditional catering platters. The individual meals will consist of sandwiches, macaroni salad, green salad, chips, cookies, brownies, and drinks, as well as condiments and paper products. SUEZ and TSG worked with Classic Café Management to provide all of the meals; in the spirit of charity for such a special cause, Classic Café Management also chipped in, allowing SUEZ and TSG to purchase the food at an amount lower than Classic Café’s cost.
Jersey City Police Department Chief of Police Michael Kelly expressed his gratitude toward the emergency workers in his city for their dedicated service, as well as to SUEZ, TSG, and Classic Café Management for their donation.
“These women and men are working courageously and tirelessly for all the folks in Jersey City while also concerned for their own families,” said Chief Kelly. “Thank you [to SUEZ, The Shauger Group, and Classic Café Management] again for [their] generosity in these tough times.”
“We are proud to have such a wonderful service partner in SUEZ—SUEZ is always willing to step up to join us to make a difference in the community,” said Donald Shauger. “We are also thankful for our relationship with Mike Giamarino and Classic Café Management for the many years they have partnered with us on charitable projects.”
Honored to have been part of this meaningful cause, SUEZ and TSG thank all emergency workers—and all essential personnel in other industries—for putting their lives on the line to help the community during the COVID-19 pandemic.
