SUEZ and TSG Honor Nurses Fighting COVID-19 during Nurses Week

In another effort to recognize healthcare workers on the front lines during the COVID-19 pandemic, SUEZ and The Shauger Group (TSG) teamed up on Friday, May 8, 2020, to donate 1,000 Dunkin’ Donuts gift cards to nurses at several hospitals and medical centers. Each gift card was packaged with a heartfelt thank-you card, as well as a candy bar that read “Nursing is a work of Heart.”

The thank-you packages were delivered to nurses at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, East Orange General Hospital, Jersey City Medical Center, Christ Hospital in Jersey City, Clara Maass Medical Center in Belleville, Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, Hoboken University Medical Center, Bayonne Medical Center, Alaris Health at St. Mary’s in Orange, Care Station in West Orange, AFC Urgent Care in West Orange, and University Hospital in Newark.

“We wanted to do something special to honor nurses for National Nurses Day and National Nurses Week,” said Donald Shauger, Vice President of TSG. “They are heroes in every sense of the word. There has been an enormous weight on their shoulders during this entire pandemic—we want them to know how grateful we are for their sacrifices day in and day out. Every day they go to work, they are putting their lives at risk to protect us and keep us safe. We hope they enjoy some coffee and treats on us, and know that all of us in the community are thinking of them.”

It was the third time in recent weeks that SUEZ and TSG have partnered to honor emergency personnel facing the current healthcare crisis. In late March, SUEZ and TSG donated 475 meals to workers in police departments, fire departments, emergency services units, medical centers, hospitals, and offices of emergency management. At the end of April, SUEZ and TSG donated 575 meals and 10 pizzas to essential workers throughout northern New Jersey. Over the past couple of months, SUEZ and TSG have also separately donated hundreds of additional meals to emergency workers as well.

“SUEZ is a similarly community-minded organization—we are grateful to have such a wonderful service partnership and working relationship with them,” said Lisa Shauger, President/CEO of TSG. “SUEZ is as passionate as we are about giving back to the healthcare workers and other essential workers bravely fighting COVID-19. It is our honor to recognize the selfless nurses and healthcare workers working around the clock to help us get through this crisis.”
